Mentor Graphics (Holdings) Ltd is part of the US group Mentor Graphics Corporation (MGC). MGC specialises in the research, development and manufacture of software products and services, and the distribution of software products throughout the world. Its Irish base is located in Shannon, Co Clare, and it employs over 2,000 in Ireland.
WestLAN were awarded the contact to design and install a highly resiliant Data Centre at their Shannon base. The Data Hall design was based on an MPO fibre solution allowing the client to run links at 10gig today but at 40 and 100gig in the future.
Server Cabinets are sealed and cooling is provided by a pressure based heat exhaust system. All Cabs sit on a solid concrete floor with services provided overhead. The project included a Data Hall, NOC, Telecoms Room and Staging Area.
